The historic center of Deir el‑Qamar is a well‑preserved Ottoman‑era village core featuring stone houses with red‑tiled roofs, narrow alleys, a central square with mosque, church and former synagogue, and palaces dating from the 15th–18th centuries. It served as the capital of the Emirate of Mount Lebanon during the 16th–18th centuries and is classified as a national historic monument.
